The Soul Sisters Women’s Ministry is dedicated to the holistic health and empowerment of women of First AME Church, as well as women of the greater community. We strive to encourage women to live the abundant life spiritually, emotionally, financially, physically, and mentally. We are named Soul Sisters because we recognize the importance of making spirituality and sisterhood priorities in our lives. The Soul Sisters Women’s Ministry meets once a month for Women’s Bible Study on the first Saturday of every month from 10am – noon at the FAME Renaissance Center. Free continental breakfast is served and transportation is available for groups of women coming for local shelters.

Additionally we believe in supporting the motto of First AME Church in being “First to Serve.”  As a result we have provided food, clothing, shoes, toiletries, and furniture to women in need.  We have also partnered with area hospitals to provide education regarding physical and mental health.  More recently we partnered with the Women’s Missionary Society on the Hunger Walk, a 5K walk to raise money to continue to provide groceries to families in need.  We also offer a spiritual retreat to Catalina Island for a day of refreshing and empowerment as well as life make-over retreats in the Los Angeles area for our sisters from First AME Church as well as our sisters from the larger community.

The Soul Sisters Ministry has a special ministry for women who are seeking to transform their lives.  This outreach has been for women in rehabilitation, women seeking to exit abusive relationships, women transitioning from prison, and women seeking their purpose.  We are an intergenerational group of women from diverse racial and economic backgrounds all striving to grow closer to God as we grow closer to each other.  We hosted an Interfaith service to join with our sisters of other faiths to stand against domestic violence.  Additionally, within our ministry, we are blessed to have the Women’s Choir and the women of the Living Word Dance Ministry.  We also partner with the Main Line Prayer Ministry, a group of sisters and brothers which receive our prayer requests each month and cover our needs in prayer throughout the year.

The Soul Sisters Ministry welcomes you to join us.  We welcome women from other Churches as well as those who are not currently active with any Church.  We welcome you to a sisterhood of women who are striving to move forward!
