The Legal Clinic is a joint effort between First AME Church (FAME), Temple Isaiah, Public Counsel, and UCLA School of Law. Our Clinic is supported by the State Bar of California, Los Angeles County Bar Foundation, and several other local Bar Associations.
The Clinic opened in November 1993 and has operated continuously and successfully through the present time. Our staff of volunteer attorneys, paralegals and law students from Loyola, Pepperdine, Southwestern, UCLA, USC, West Los Angeles, and Southwest College has provided valuable free legal services to thousands of families in the greater Los Angeles area. The Clinic has served as a successful model for others to follow.
Our mission is to improve public confidence in the legal system through the delivery of free legal services on a non-discriminatory basis to those who can least afford it. This is accomplished through giving legal advice, self-help services, referrals to government agencies, mediation services, and other fee and non-fee legal service providers. THE CLINIC DOES NOT REPRESENT CLIENTS.
Our staff assists in all legal matters, for example: divorce, child custody, criminal, civil, bankruptcy, landlord and tenant, personal injury, job injury, social security, employment, probate, real estate, etc.
