FAME & KJLH Inspire and Empower at Taste of Soul

First AME Church of Los Angeles and KJLH  teamed up to mix it up and present a gospel stage of Comedy, Unity, Praise, Health & Wellness at this year's Taste of Soul.

This year at Taste of Soul, FAME (First A.M.E. Church of Los Angeles) presented the Taste of Soul Gospel Stage in partnership with Radio Free 102.3 KJLH. Denise Hunter, President of FAME Corporations served as Executive Producer of the stage. The lineup included a variety of inspirational talent that FAME & KJLH felt would empower the community, mind body and soul.

Headlining the choir portion of the show was the Voices of Destiny, the 2010 winners of Verizon’s “How Sweet the Sound” competition.  Other choirs included are the Great Los Angeles Cathedral Choir, FAME Church Unity Choir, City Of Refuge Men's Choir, Riverside Mass Community Choir, First Jurisdictional C.O.G.I.C Choir and the West Angeles C.O.G.I.C. choir. 2011 Western Region Verizon How Sweet the Sounds Winners Family Life Center Sanctuary Choir .

National recording artist included  Joint Heirs , Isacc Thompson and DP, Vicky Mac Presents Squeaky Entertainment and all the way from Nigeria Izik 5.

Another first-ever was the “Let’s Move L.A.” FLASHMOB, set to music by Mary, Mary. Participation was open to public.

Another highlight was the “Living the First Lady Life—First Ladies Unplugged” panel. First Ladies play a significant role in the lives of their church and community, and this was a perfect venue to get a ‘taste’ of the lives they lead on a daily basis. The panel included Mrs. Jacquie G. Wade, First Lady of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church; Dr. Betty Price, First Lady of Crenshaw Christian Center; Mrs. Togetta Ulmer, First Lady of Faithful Central Bible Church; Mrs. Myesha Chaney, First Lady of Antioch Church of Long Beach; Sheree Fletcher, First Lady of The City of Hope International Church in San Diego; and Mrs. Hunter.

The stage was hosted by J Anthony Brown's J Spot Comedians. The comedians kept the spirit of Joy flowing from the stage and all down the "Shaw".
