FAME CHURCH welcomes Pastor John J. Hunter and First Lady Denise Hunter
This Sunday, October 10, 2010, the First AME Church of Los Angeles honors Pastor John J. Hunter and First Lady Denise Hunter as they commence their 7th year at FAME Church and FAME Corporations. A special reception of fellowship, music and inspiration will be held at The Allen House Earl Green Pavilion, 2249 South Harvard Boulevard, immediately after the 12:00 Noon Worship Service from 2:00-4:00pm. All are welcome to rejoice and share FAME’s mission of abiding in prayer, walking in power, fulfilling our purpose and manifesting God’s blessing! The reception will also celebrate the recent 86th Session of the Southern California Annual Conference of the AME Church, which was a huge success. Under the leadership of Bishop T. Larry Kirkland, the Presiding Prelate of the Fifth Episcopal District gathered at the Sheraton Gateway Hotel at LAX September 27, 2010 through October 3, 2010. Pastor John J. Hunter, First Lady Denise Hunter and some 500 members of the 19,000-member FAME Congregation attended the annual gathering. Jacquelyn M. Snead, delegate for FAME Church to the Annual Conference was on hand for the presentation of the FAME Annual Report to the Bishop. Members of FAME attended the Hour of Power and a special appreciation luncheon for FAME Church Members at the Proud Bird Restaurant. For the first time, in an effort to go green, FAME has released its Annual Report online at www.famechurch.org in a special 6-page format, reducing the amount of paper consumption for the annual edition. The theme of the Annual Report is “FAME Forward!” and highlights the accomplishments FAME has made over the past year strengthening the family and community and preparing our youth for the future. “When Denise and I reflect over this last year and witness the commitment of the FAME congregation to help our brothers and sisters in crisis, we are overwhelmed with gratitude and humbled by their compassion,” said Pastor John J. Hunter. “Whether it is praying for the victims of Hurricane Katrina five years after the flooding, being one of the first Churches in Los Angeles to respond with generous donations to the earthquake tragedy in Haiti, or celebrating our strength in charity through the spirit of Nelson Mandela Day, I am proud to be the Pastor of FAME and pleased with the hard work we are accomplishing together as a unified force of good in a challenging world.” “I am so proud of the work FAME is doing to improve the lives of our brothers and sisters in the community,” said First Lady Denise Hunter. “Whether it’s helping everyone to step-up to the challenge of praising God in mind and body by providing affordable fresh fruits and vegetables every weekend at the FAME So Fresh Produce Market, highlighting the importance of education to our youth with FAME’s “Achievement Sunday,” reaching out to help with world humanitarian issues, or providing important tools to help our children succeed at the Back to School Health Fair and Giveaway, we want to thank you, our FAME family, for continuing to support FAME. We are blessed in our work together to improve the lives of God’s children.
