Church Leadership "deeply saddened" by attack on audience at Movie Screening

A gunman opened fire at a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado, early Friday morning at a screening of The Dark Knight Rises, killing 12 people and wounding at least 50 others.

Media reports say local police apprehended the suspect, reportedly a young man in his 20s, in the parking lot behind the theater following the attack.

"My wife Denise and I join all Americans today in offering prayers for the victims, their families and friends, and the residents of the state of Colorado.

We are all deeply saddened to learn about this horrific incident. All of us at First AME Church of Los Angeles, are praying for the citizen first responders, local and federal law enforcement, area hospitals, who quickly responded to this horrific incident with great courage."
