FAME Church Scholarship Recipient Jamaal M. Myles
serves as a 2009 Summer Intern at Hewlett-Packard

FAME Church member Jamal M. Myles, a junior at the prestigious Baylor University served as a 2009 Summer Intern at Hewlett-Packard. HP is a technology company that operates in more than 170 countries around the world. "This was my first major internship as well as corporate job, and it was truly a rewarding experience," Jamaal explained.

Pastor John J. Hunter, First Lady Denise Hunter and WMS President Marye Barnett recently presented Jamaal M. Myles the Handy-Simmons Scholarship. The scholarship program was open to undergraduate college students who are members of First AME Church.  The scholarship recipients each received a one thousand dollar award.  Pastor John J. Hunter said "we congratulate Jamaal on his scholastic achievements."

"My mother, Gayle Tolbert, has provided me with an infinite amount of support and motivation. She is the poster child for a dream mother who guides her children to success. She supports me in all that I do and has been an excellent role model. I cannot thank her enough for her efforts" Jamaal said of his mother a member of the WMS and a dedicated volunteer at FAME Church Summer Youth Enrichment Program.

Baylor University in Waco, Texas, is a private Baptist university, and a nationally ranked liberal arts institution. Chartered in 1845 by the Republic of Texas, Baylor is the oldest, continually operating university in the state. Though 80 percent of students come from within Texas, Baylor is home to students from all 50 states, and 80 countries.

Majoring in Management Information Systems, Jamaal will graduate from Baylor University in 2010. While at Baylor University Jamaal has been actively involved with campus leadership, most recently he was elected president of the Tau Alpha Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Jamaal is also a member of Beta Gamma Sigma Business International Honor Society.
